8. EXTRA WORK.

"MAN IN THE MIRROR" - traduction.

I'm Gonna Make A Change
For Once In My Life
It's Gonna Feel Real Good
Gonna Make A Difference
Gonna Make It Right...

As I Turn Up The Collar On
My Favorite Winter Coat
This Wind Is Blowin' My Mind
I See The Kids In The Street
With Not Enough To Eat
Who Am I, To Be Blind?
Pretending Not To See Their Needs
A Summer's Disregard
A Broken Bottle Top
And A One Man's Soul
They Follow Each Other On
The Wind Ya' Know
'Cause They Got Nowhere To Go
That's Why I Want You To Know

I'm Starting With The Man In The Mirror
I'm Asking Him To Change His Ways
And No Message Could Have Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World A Better Place
Take A Look At Yourself, And Then Make A Change

I've Been A Victim Of
A Selfish Kind Of Love
It's Time That I Realize
That There Are Some With No Home
Not A Nickel To Loan
Could It Be Really Me
Pretending That They're Not Alone?

A Willow Deeply Scarred
Somebody's Broken Heart
And A Washed-Out Dream
They Follow The Pattern Of
The Wind, Ya' See
Cause They Got No Place To Be
That's Why I'm Starting With Me

I'm Starting With The Man In The Mirror
I'm Asking Him To Change His Ways
And No Message Could Have Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World A Better Place
Take A Look At Yourself And Then Make A Change

I'm Starting With The Man In The Mirror
I'm Asking Him To Change His Ways
No Message Could Have Been Any Clearer
(If You Wanna Make The World A Better Place)
(Take A Look At Yourself And Then Make The Change)
(You Gotta Get It Right, While You Got The Time)
('Cause When You Close Your Heart)
You Can't Close Your...Your Mind!
(Then You Close Your...Mind!)
That Man, That Man, That Man, That Man
With That Man In The Mirror
(Man In The Mirror, Oh Yeah!)
That Man, That Man, That Man
I'm Asking Him To Change His Ways
(Better Change!)
You Know...That Man
No Message Could Have Been Any Clearer
If You Wanna Make The World A Better Place
Take A Look At Yourself And Then Make A Change
Hoo! Hoo! Hoo! Hoo! Hoo!
Na Na Na, Na Na Na, Na Na, Na Nah
(Oh Yeah!)
Gonna Feel Real Good Now!
Yeah Yeah! Yeah Yeah! Yeah Yeah!
Na Na Na, Na Na Na, Na Na, Na Nah
(Ooooh...)
Oh No, No No....
I'm Gonna Make A Change
It's Gonna Feel Real Good!
Come On!
(Change)
Just Lift Yourself
You Know
You've Got To Stop It.
Yourself!
(Yeah!-Make That Change!)
I've Got To Make That Change, Today!
Hoo!
(Man In The Mirror)
You Got To
You Got To Not Let Yourself...Brother...
Hoo!
(Yeah!-Make That Change!)
You Know-I've Got To Get That Man, That Man...
(Man In The Mirror)
You've Got To
You've Got To Move! Come On! Come On!
You Got To...
Stand Up! Stand Up! Stand Up!
(Yeah-Make That Change)
Stand Up And Lift Yourself, Now!
Hoo! Hoo! Hoo!
Aaow!
(Yeah-Make That Change)
Gonna Make That Change...
Come On! (Man In The Mirror)
You Know It!
You Know It!
You Know It!
You Know...
(Change...)
Make That Change

TRADUCTION:

Faré un canvi
Per una vegada a la meva vida
Sonarà realment bé
ho faré diferent
Ho faré bé...

Mentre em col•loco el coll
De la meva jaqueta preferida
El vent està atordint la meva ment
Veig els nois al carrer
Sense lo suficient per menjar
¿Qui sóc jo? ¿Estic ceg?
Fingint no veure les seves necessitats
Una indiferència temporal
Una xapa trencada d’una ampolla
I l’ànima d’un home
Es segueixen els uns als altres
A través del vent, ho saps
Perquè no tenen cap lloc on anar
Per això vull que sàpigues

començaré per l’home davant el mirall
demanant que canviï la seva forma de ser
i cap missatge podria ser més clar:
“Si vols fer del món un lloc millor, mira’t a tu mateix
I llavors fes un canvi”:

He estat víctima d’un amor egoista
Ara me’n adono
De que hi ha gent sense casa
Sense diners que deixar
¿Puc realment

i cap missatge podria ser més clar:
“Si vols fer del món un lloc millor, mira’t a tu mateix
I llavors fes un canvi

començaré per l’home davant el mirall
demanant que canviï la seva forma de ser
i cap missatge podria ser més clar:
“Si vols fer del món un lloc millor, mira’t a tu mateix
I llavors fes un canvi

Tens que fer-ho bé, mentre hi siguis a temps.
Perquè quan tanques el teu cor
No pots tancar la teva ment.

Llavors tanques la teva ment.
Aquest home, aquest home, aquest home, aquest home
Amb aquest home al mirall
Home en el mirall (Oh si!)
Aquest home, aquest home, aquest home
Li demano que canvi la seva actitud
(millor canvia!)
Ho saps...aquest home
Cap missatge podia estar més clar
Si vols fer del món un lloc millor,
Mira’t i llavors realitza un canvi
Hoo! Hoo! Hoo! Hoo! Hoo!
Na Na Na, Na Na Na, Na Na Na Nah
(Oh, sí!)
Ara sonarà realment bé!
Yeah Yeah! Yeah Yeah! Yeah Yeah!
Na Na Na, Na Na Na, Na Na, Na Nah
(Ooooh...)
Oh No, No No....
Faré un canvi
Sonarà realment bé
!Va!
(canvia)
Elevat a tu mateix
Ho saps
Has de parar-ho
Tu mateix!
(Si, fes aquest canvi!)
Has de fer aquest canvi avui!
¡Hoo!
(Home davant el mirall)
Has de...
No t’abandonis a tu mateix, germà...
Hoo!
(Si, fes aquest canvi!)
Saps que tinc que aconseguir que aquest home, aquest home...
(Home davant del mirall)
Has de moure’t. Va vinga!
Has de...
Aixeca’t, aixeca’t, aixeca’t!
(Si, fes aquest canvi!)
¡Aixeca’t i eleva’t a tu mateix! Ara!
Hoo! Hoo! Hoo!
Aaow!
(Sí, realitza aquest canvi!)
Anem a fer auqest canvi
Vinga! (Home davant el mirall!)
Ho saps
Ho saps
Ho saps
Ho saps
(canvia!)

Has de fer aquest canvi...

The pitfalls of Africa's aid addiction.

Most African countries have now been independent for over 40 years. Most are blessed with all the elements to help compete on a global stage (abundant natural resources, a young population and the climate and conditions to be a major agricultural force). The symptoms of corruption are:

- Teachers demand bribes from their students because they cannot get by on their wages.
- Government officials, doctors and nurses steal drugs meant for their patients to sell on the black market.
- African leaders have property portfolios across the globe, while their citizens live on $1 a day or less.

Until these gifted and enterprising people can be attracted to return, most of the world's peacekeeping efforts, on the continent, and certainly most of its aid, will have little effect.

MERRY NADAL.

Christmas in Catalonia has a special set of traditions.
December us upon one more and the frantic contradiction to Christmas is clouding everyone’s judgment.
Mental checklists of presents over whelm all other thoughts, turning innocent day dreams into gift wrapped nightmares.
To start with the “dies festius” begin for earlier than December 25th. The All Saints celebration pn November 1st still sits recently in the collective memory, along with its “panallet” cakes, muscatel sweet wine, “castanyes” (chestnuts) and boniatos (sweet potatoes).
The days more importants are 25th, 31st, 24th (“caga tió”), 28th (lit Innocent Saints’ day) and 6th (“dia de reis”). It’s a really funny tradition of Catalonia.

2. OPINION ESSAY.

- Is humor necessary to survive?

In my country, Catalonia, humor it’s a thing very usual and for example, it’s a form to connect the TV with audients, create programs of comedians, humor cartoons, sitcoms…
In my opinion, the humor in the TV it’s a great thing, because transmit happiness to people who like this programs.

First of all, there exist different types of humor according to the country. The Spain humor is different to the American humor. The people who live in Spain, generally, hate the American humor, and vice versa. There are humors for each age, too.

Secondly, I think that the humor is the better remedy, the better therapy and the better mechanism for make smiles and spread positivity. Furthermore, I think that’s a great thing to unite and socialize people.

To sum up, I would say that humor it’s necessary to survive because I thin k that’s a drug: We can’t live in peace without.

2. DISCUSSION ESSAY.

Computers have made the world a better place.

I think that’s a good affirmation. The computers and technology have made the world in a better place because offered a lot of resources and facilities day a day.
Before, the people consulted something in the books or some documents, and now, for example, we can consult all that we need in “Internet” (one system that we can including in the computer).

In one hand, the computer it’s a really good thing in all the aspects. It transforms a lot of things that we can make with our hands and make more facilities of search of all the topics. Nowadays it’s a think that unconsciously we need.

In the other hand, computers are an addiction for some people, and all the addictions are bad. So, for this reason I think too that the computers contribute bad things and bad costumes. At this moment in time, we can’t live without computers.

In conclusion, I would say that in our world the technology is very important and the progress too. The computers have good and bad things, but…as all. For this reasons I think that the computer have made the world a better place.

McDonald's sued over nude photos

A US couple is suing McDonald's for $3m (£2m) after nude photos of the woman, which were on her husband's mobile phone, ended up on the internet. Phillip Sherman says he accidentally left his phone, with the photos, at a McDonald's and promised to secure the phone until he could retrieve it. Tina Sherman, who she had to move to a new home after the woman's name, address, and phone number appeared online along with the photos, says she began receiving offensive calls and text messages about the pictures from her husband's mobile phone after he left it at the McDonald's. The nude pictures have been removed from the website that had posted them and McDonald's Corp, the franchise owner and the manager have so far refused to comment on the case.

NEWS. Clinton Ends Campaign With Clear Call to Elect Obama

in Washington, Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton brought her campaign for the White House to an end on Saturday with a rousing farewell to thousands of supporters here and an emotional and unequivocal call for her voters to get behind Senator Barack Obama, the man who defeated her for the Democratic nomination.
At that point the cheers, mostly from women, swelled so loud that Mrs. Clinton’s remaining words could not be heard.
It was a dramatic — and at times theatrical — end to a candidacy that transfixed the country. Many of her supporters watched, some weeping, turning out to witness and appreciate the history of this latest turn in the Clintons’ story. If it was a clearly personal moment for Mrs. Clinton, it was a political one as well, as she tried to marshal her large following on Mr. Obama’s behalf.

NEWS. The revolutionary

During much of his 45-year career, Saint Laurent, who died in Paris on Sunday at the age of 71, held the style world in his thrall, wielding an influence that dominated the runways and exerts a fascination to this day.
Saint Laurent, a stylistic rebel with a paradoxically conservative streak, arguably did more to advance fashion than any designer of his generation. His signal contribution to the world of style was to elevate the lowly and the outré, conferring an aristocratic insouciance on modes of dress once considered too gritty or exotic for conventional wear.

Today Saint Laurent is a touchstone for designers hoping to demonstrate a mastery of tailoring and draping. In the mid-’90s, Mr. Ford was alternately criticized and lauded for his fidelity to the designer. In his collections for Gucci, his curvaceous blazers and dinner jackets recalled the gender-bending sexuality of a Saint Laurent piece memorably captured in the ’70s by Helmut Newton.
Even in his sportier styles, Saint Laurent championed a sexy androgyny. Successors to the safari jacket introduced in 1968 resurface on designer catwalks almost every season. On its debut, it caused a furor, sending devotees to Abercrombie & Fitch to improvise interpretations of their own.

8. Final evaluation

If I obverse my portfolio, I can see that my level of English have to improve than September 2007. For example, my vocabulary. I think that now, i know more vocabulary than September, more verbal forms...and I'm improved considerably.

The orals presentation (level for talk), writings and blogs are the best activities that show my level of English.

The activities really useful for improve my english are the blogs, because we have time for think and express our ideas.

I don't think that we have any activities for learn English. All the activities contributent anything.

For next year, I think that the good activities that the children could liked are the blog, films, games, songs, orals, separate activitues in Aula Idiomes, and well...all the things that we practise this year.

2. Opinion essay

We have almost learnt to respect our world.

I begin with a statement we have a lot of bad habits (in the past, now, and probably in the future) and the people make the limits they want.

The pollution warming, the absence of water and a very log etcetera, are the principals reasons of the problems of the world, and my principal question is, fot example: can any govenment have to invent any law, method or have to find a way more efficacy to do help for all this problems?

I think that the governments and all the people in general believe that to have wich countries is ncessary to have poor countries, or that the people while have topics for dispute and dabte as for example the serious problems of the world, the politicions can find the solution and make a best society, or that any divine force could change all the persons to respect our world.

In conclusion, we are gullible and we think that always we do the best things to respect the world, but sometimes we get wrong.

NEWS. Albinos, Long Shunned, Face Deadly Threat in Tanzania.

Samuel Mluge steps outside his office and scans the sidewalk. His pale blue eyes dart back and forth, back and forth, trying to focus. The sun used to be his main enemy, but now he has others.
Mr. Mluge is an albino, and in Tanzania now there is a price for his pinkish skin. Discrimination against albinos is a serious problem throughout sub at least 19 albinos, including children, have been killed and mutilated in the past year, victims of what Tanzanian officials say is a growing criminal trade in albino body parts.
Many people in Tanzania — and across Africa, for that matter — believe albinos have magical powers. They stand out, often the lone white face in a black crowd, a result of a genetic condition that impairs normal skin pigmentation and strikes about 1 in 3,000 people here. Tanzanian officials say witch doctors are now marketing albino skin, bones and hair as ingredients in potions that are promised to make people rich.

Many albinos in Tanzania are turning to the Tanzanian Albino Society for help. But the nonprofit advocacy group operates on less than $15,000 a year. That’s not enough for the sunscreen, hats and protective clothing that could save lives.

Tanzania’s new albino member of Parliament, said, “People think we’re lucky. That’s why they’re killing us. But we’re not lucky.”

6. EXAM OPINION ESSAY IMPROVED VERSION

Now, I talk about my opinion with the sentence “too much importance is given to taking exams at school.

I agree with that topic because I think that people need a level of education and the teachers can measure this level only with the mark of the exams. A lot of people say that the children who have a good mark in Catalan, have a good mark in maths, too. I think that this argument is not an important thing.

On the one hand, I’m sure that a lot of children would suppress the exams or delete the questions of the exams, but on the other hand I think that the children and teachers, in some subjects, give much importance to get an excellent exam and less importance to take a good work in class during the year.

In addition, a lot of children take advantages and copy the exams or some questions of their friends and for this reason give too much importance to take exams than the work of the class, it’s unfair.

All in all, I think that the exams are important, but they aren’t the base of our level.

4. A SUMMARY OF THE FILM: FRÁGILES

In Wight Island, Amy Nicholls arrives in the old Mercy Falls Children Hospital to work as night nurse as replacement of the former nurse Susan. The hospital is in a deactivation process, with the patients being transferred to Saint James Hospital; however, due to a train crash, the closing process has been postponed. Amy is introduced to eight children with lung cases by the nurse Helen Perez, and she feels a sort of attraction for the terminal girl Maggie. Maggie likes to play with some letter blocks to talk with the mechanical girl called Charlotte that would live upstairs, in an abandoned floor. Amy asks about Charlotte to her coworkers and they explain that she is an urban legend and the Maggie is making up her existence. But sooner they find that the children can not be transferred to Saint James since there is something evil that wants to keep them near.

I learnt this words:
sooner - abans
deaf - sord
dumb - mut

THE MOON WAS SHINING

The hot

Hell is an awful place, so

Every day I wish to see the moon

Moon is an amazing place

On your dreams and

On the reality is very

Nice and wonderful

When the moon was born

And in the sky, the

Stars start to shine

Sometimes I think that the

Heart and sun would be the best place in the universe, but

I prefer the moon because it’s more

Near than me

Is more special

2. MY EUROPEAN PASSPORT

3. FIRST MAIL

Hi Lourdes! My name is Gemma Gasull, I study in the IES castelló d'Empúries because I live in this town and my friends too. I'm 16 years old, in January I will be 17. I like like the theater, to sail by Internet, to speak, to laugh, the photography makes me crazy, it it fascinates to me and listen the letter of the songs...etc, but I don't like too many things, for example: the fish, Chinese food, Mexican food, the lies...
This summer I haven't worked because I didn't look for anything, but to medium summer I regreted not haver looked for some work by the mornings. I think that much information already you will remember of the last year, so I finish this presentation.

see you tomorrow! :)
good bye!

4. THE HORROR STORY

My horror story is based about the first trip that a friend has done some years ago. She travelled with her parents to Corsega. She was so happy with this trip but a bit frightened to take the plane. Everything in the plane was OK but the strange thing happened in the hotel bedroom. When she was sleeping during the last night, he started to hear some noises from the bathroom. The first thing that she did was check if her parents were sleeping. Yes, they were sleeping so deeply. Then he tried to sleep another time but she wasn't able to because she heart the noises from the bathroom cistern. Then she felt more and more nervous and she though that the only solution was shout very loud to woke up her parents. She achieved his purpose and her dad went into the bathroom and nobody was in the bathroom and everything was OK. Luckily, it was the only bad thing during the travel and the rest was perfect.

7. THE FORMAL LETTER

The head teacher
IES Castelló d’Empúries
c/ Rentador
Castelló d’Empúries 17486

Dear head teacher,

I look the installations of the IES and I would give some suggestions to improve the education and the comfort.

On the one hand, I think that the projector (that they are locate in some classrooms), could be find in all the classrooms because sometimes it is necessary to change the students to de classrooms for watch a film, a video or any things. I think, too, that the color of the IES it’s very soften and the windows with the barriers make a classroom very dismal.

In my opinion, I think that we can be better all this things and the quality of the students and the students can be more motivated with the work.

I’d be interested to read about your opinion and yours disagreed or agrees with me.

Yours faithfully,

Gemma Gasull

8. A PODCAST

Some wednesdays ago, in the language room Dani, Andreu, Arturo and me were with Anika. She gave to us some papers with our horoscope, we had to explain our personality and other activities. The horoscopes were plenty of true things, specially the Andreu's one. This three boys are three characters so while they were talking, were doing silly things and Annika looked me very surprised with them but finally we all were laughing.

In conclusion, the dialogue wasn't very long and fluid but I learnt a lot of new vocabulary.

9. MILKING IT (a summari of new)

One of the perks of living on the Costa Brava is the abundance of wonderful produce grown in the region or landed at its ports. La Fageda has managed to become the third largest yoghurt producer in Catalunya (30 million yoghurts annually). 70 percent of La Fageda’s employees have physical or mental disabilities. The idea was to base the business activities in a rural setting, largely because it was working with nature helped disabled people regain a measure of dignity. It’s a good place to work for these persons.

9. GROWING TENSION (summary of news 2)

Simon Newman says that a controversial solution is planned to meet the problem of Catalunya’s growing energy requirements. High-tension pylons are depicted in energy company advertisements as benign, animated giants striding across the countryside and bestowing the gift of clean power. However, detractors such as the citizens group No a la MAT (MAT stands Muy Alta Tension), them as an unnecessary scourge, environmentally damaging and the cause of a litany of health hazards.
MAT also allege that high-tension networks are inherently inefficient, losing as much as 30 percent of their power when transferred over long distances.
The energy company REE (Red Electrica de España) disagrees. And they are the only feasible option since underground cables are only suitable for short distances, 40 km being the current record, in Japan.

10. SUMMARY OF THE FILM

Thirteen Summary:

At the age of 13, Tracy is an excellent student and gets along well with her mother, Melanie.. She cuts to rid herself of the emotional pain (but later uses drugs, alcohol, sex, and even more self mutilation) of coming from a broken home and the hatred of her mom Mel's on and off boyfriend Brady. She soon befriends Evie, the most popular and coolest girl at school. Evie leads Tracy down the road of sex, drugs, and petty crime (including stealing money from purses and stores). But as Tracy transforms herself and her identity, her world becomes upside down and inside out as her relationship with her mother turns to constant arguments and the loss of her friends and teachers.

12. DESCRIPTION

My description is going to be about my friend Juliette. We are friends since we were five years old. Juliette is quite tall and slim. She has green eyes and dark hair. Her hair is straight and so long although she prefers longer. On his face, she has some little freckles.

If I have to talk about her personality I think that she’s so quietly but when she has some important fact in his head then she is so much nervous. I’m always telling that this is so bad for herself. However, I really admire her optimism and her self-confidence. I also admire her because she is very outgoing and she always knows new people. We are similar with this. Juliette is also very hard-working but on the other hand she’s very untidy. Moreover, she’s so funny because she’s often laughing and makes the other people laugh so I always spend great time next to her.

To sum up, I think that Juliette is a very interesting girl. A lot of boys admire my friend and I am sure that a lot of girls want to be like her because is so beautiful, starting with her eyes and her physic and finishing with her nice character.
